SB35 (formerly SB600) advances in the Illinois Senate

By CATHY SANTOS • March 10, 2011

Senate Bill 35, legislation that would give EVERY Republican a vote for their representatives on the Illinois Republican Party’s State Central Committee, passed out of the Illinois Senate Executive Committee today. The vote was 9-5.

SB35 is identical to the old Senate Bill 600, the number assigned in the previous General Assembly.

SB35 not only restores real democracy and accountability to our State Party – it doubles the size of the State Central Committee from 19 to 38. In other words, it doubles the chances for getting some real leaders for a change.

Thank you to the nine Illinois State Senators who stood-up for the Republican rank-and-file and voted “yes” to advance SB35 in the Illinois Senate.
