2012 Presidential Race. In the 2012 Presidential election, the county supported Republican Mitt Romney 58-40% over Democrat Barack Obama.

 

2008 Presidential Race. In the 2008 Presidential election, the county supported Republican John McCain 52-46% over Democrat Barack Obama.

 

2004 Presidential Race. In the 2004 Presidential election, the county supported Republican George W. Bush 58-41% over Democrat John Kerry.

 

About Tazewell County. Tazewell County was formed out of Peoria County in 1827. Its county seat is Pekin, Illinois.

 

The consensus appears to be that it was named in honor of Littleton Tazewell, who was serving in the U.S. Senate, and who became Governor of Virginia in 1834. It is, however, possible that it was named for Littleton’s father, prominent Virginia politician Henry Tazewell, for whom Tazewell County, Virginia, was named. Learn More
