2008 Presidential Race. In the 2008 Presidential election, the county supported Democrat Barack Obama 52-46% over Republican John McCain.

 

2004 Presidential Race. In the 2004 Presidential election, the county supported Republican George W. Bush 51-48% over Democrat John Kerry.

 

About McDonough County. McDonough County was part of the “Military Tract” set aside by Congress for veterans of the War of 1812. Its county seat is Macomb, Illinois.

 

McDonough County was named for Thomas McDonough, a Commodore of the United States Navy, who commanded the fleet on Lake Champlain in a successful engagement with the British fleet, near Plattsburg in 1814. Learn More
