Bruce Rauner thinks Pat Quinn is some kind of genius

By DOUG IBENDAHL • September 23, 2014

evil geniusBruce Rauner seems a little paranoid these days. I won’t say he’s at the tinfoil hat wearing stage – yet. But then again I don’t know what he does in the privacy of his nine homes.

However, as the various lies about Rauner’s nursing home involvement continue to be peeled away, you can clearly see the growing strain.

Rauner got particularly testy during a press conference on Tuesday when reporters asked about the big trial going on now in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Florida which centers on alarming allegations against the private equity firm Rauner chaired.

The Chicago Sun-Times has video of a portion of Tuesday’s press conference here.

Rauner asserted this whole nursing home matter is just a “distraction” by Pat Quinn “who is creating a diversion away from his failed administration.”

Wow. So Quinn isn’t a hapless bumbler after all. According to Rauner, Quinn is in fact the mastermind behind Heaven’s Gate-Gate.

Who knew that Quinn hatched an elaborate scheme more than a decade ago, foreseeing that he would one day be governor and facing a challenge from Bruce Rauner? Somehow Quinn was able to ensure that elderly and disabled people received appalling care, and then convinced Rauner and his partners to abandon the victims while grabbing what they could.

But Quinn’s pièce de résistance has to be the way he made an elderly graphic designer named Barry Saacks the new owner of what was left of Rauner’s plundered nursing home business – and all apparently without poor Mr. Saacks even knowing it.

Well played Governor.
