Doug Ibendahl is a Chicago attorney and former General Counsel of the Illinois Republican Party. In 2000, he was named Illinois Coordinator for Young Professionals for George W. Bush (YP4W), a national volunteer coalition of the Bush-Cheney 2000 campaign. Doug also served on the Bush-Cheney legal team in Florida during the 2000 Presidential recount.

Doug knows Illinois and its diversity, having been born and raised on the family grain and livestock farm in Southern Illinois, and then moving to Chicago after college graduation in 1985. Central Illinois was also home for three years (1992 to 1995) while Doug attended law school at the University of Illinois in Champaign.

Prior to law school, Doug was a Senior Examiner with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where he performed onsite examinations of banks and holding companies, and analyzed merger and acquisition proposals from the largest banking organizations in the Seventh Federal Reserve District.

Before starting his own law and consulting practice, Doug was an attorney with one of the world’s largest law firms, Mayer Brown LLP in Chicago. His practice concentrated in the firm’s corporate, finance and government groups, and included Fortune 500 corporate clients, as well as governmental entities.

Doug is the Co-Founder of Republican Young Professionals (RYP), an all volunteer grassroots organization dedicated to introducing younger people to political and community involvement. He has worked on numerous political and legislative campaigns.

Doug is a widely read political commentator. From 2008 to 2010 he also co-hosted a popular Sunday morning political talk show on AM 560-WIND.

Doug Ibendahl is a graduate of Southern Illinois University (B.S., 1985); The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business (M.B.A., 1991); and the University of Illinois College of Law (J.D., 1995), where he served as Topics Editor of The University of Illinois Law Review.

Doug lives in Chicago with his fiancé Cathy.
