U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald endorses passage of SB600

One of the finest statesmen Illinois has ever known has endorsed SB600. No one did more to take on Illinois’ culture of corruption than U.S. Senator Peter Fitzgerald.

As just one example, we would not even have U.S. Attorney Patrick Fitzgerald (no relation) on the field in Illinois today doing his great work had it not been for Peter’s backbone and courage.

The same Old Guard that is today pulling out all the stops to prevent even a hearing on SB600, years ago mounted fierce opposition to Peter as he fought to bring in independent U.S. Attorneys. Fortunately for all Illinoisans, Peter won that fight. A popularly elected State Central Committee means that Republicans will be able to elect party leaders who will actually stand-up for real reformers like Peter Fitzgerald.
