POLITICO: Gingrich and Romney engage as two-man race begins

Newt Gingrich and Mitt Romney on Sunday launched into their next phase of the Republican presidential nominating contest, a new two-man race that was immediately more personal and bitter.

With a week and a half to go before Florida’s Jan. 31 primary, both candidates and surrogates took to their airwaves the morning after Gingrich’s decisive South Carolina primary win to preview their messages and begin laying out their latest lines of attack.
