.
All 50 Republican Ward Committeepersons in Chicago will be elected at the Primary Election on Tuesday, March 17, 2020.
.
Republican Ward Committeeperson is an unpaid, volunteer Party position. The position is similar to that of a Precinct Committeeperson in all Illinois counties other than Cook County. The only substantive difference is that many more voters are represented in a Chicago ward, which includes multiple precincts. (It’s also a 4-year term, as opposed to the 2-year term for Precinct Committeepersons in all other counties.)
.
Cook County is unique in that it is the only county in Illinois where Republicans and Democrats do not elect Precinct Committeepersons. Instead, each party elects 50 Ward Committeepersons in the City of Chicago, and 30 Township Committeepersons in suburban Cook County. (Those 30 Township Committeepersons are not up for election again in Cook until 2022.)
.
Running for Ward Committeeperson in Chicago is relatively easy. In 30 of the 50 wards, Republican candidates for Ward Committeeperson need the valid signatures of fewer than 150 registered voters in the ward to get on the ballot.
.
If you are a principled Republican and a resident of Chicago who is seriously interested in building the GOP and standing with President Trump-as opposed to just collecting a title-consider running for Republican Ward Committeeperson.
