Editor’s Note: We thank the Bureau-LaSalle Tea Party and the many other Tea Party activists across the state, for their support of SB35. These leaders personify the true meaning of the Tea Party movement - to protect our Country and the Constitution upon which our nation was founded. Few ideas are as American as the principle of one person, one vote. And of course that’s what SB35 is all about. These Tea Party activists – just like all supporters of SB35 – would make the Founders proud.
TO: ALL REPUBLICAN STATE REPRESENTATIVES
We’re just wondering why it is that not a single Republican State Representative has signed on to SB35 as a sponsor?
Let’s be very clear on this. The majority of Tea Party groups and the majority of Republican constituents that understand what this bill does want to see it passed. This bill will RESTORE the voting rights that registered Republicans had for around 70 years and were taken away in a naked power grab under the Thompson administration. So, how’s that been working?
Since that power grab the Republican Party has declined into the category of ‘inconsequential’ as evidenced by the inability to get vital Conservative bills passed or to stop the liberals from passing bills and performing actions that are detrimental to Illinois.
We urge you to sign on now, to work to get the votes necessary to pass it, and to be sure to vote for it yourself. Stand up for your constituents! Stand up for what the Republican Party once was and should be again! The Republicans in the Senate voted unanimously FOR it and within that context we hope to see you exhibit the courage, the determination, and the will to RESTORE our voting rights by signing on as a House sponsor and subsequently voting FOR SB35.
