I was never a particular fan of Republican State Representative Rosemary Mulligan. But no one deserves to get the old Tom Double Cross.
Mulligan tells the DesPlaines Patch about the way Tom Cross and the House Republican Organization punished her for not exhibiting sufficient allegiance to the current regime.
Mulligan said members of the [House Republican Organization] thought she was not going to back Rep. Tom Cross for minority leader of the House Republicans.
“So they threw me under the bus,” Mulligan said. “The goal was to remove me so that they would have someone else that was new and obligated to back him.”
Mulligan has some bad votes as a State Representative – actually a lot of bad votes. All of the GOP lawmakers in Springfield have at least some bad votes.
But on hearing she wanted Cross replaced as Minority Leader, Mulligan’s stock went way up in my book.
Cross and his people never had a problem with Mulligan going off the GOP Platform reservation. Cross himself is more of a lefty than most Illinois Democrats. Mulligan only got the Tom Double Cross when word leaked out that maybe she would no longer rubberstamp failure.
If there was any common sense in the Illinois GOP, we would be ousting those State Representatives and candidates who DON’T think Tom Cross should go.
The Patch story is a must read. It reveals once again just what a petty, pointless little man Tom Cross really is. They don’t call him Tom Double Cross for nothing.
